With netbooks becoming hot property and selling so well whilst other electronic devices seem to be struggling, a lot of manufacturers are realising the potential of netbooks in the current market.
The recent International Consumer Electronics Show enforced the power of the netbook in 2009, with new netbooks dominating the stands and lots of new models announced.
Archos is well known for its array of portable media playing devices that have been doing the rounds for years. However, Archos has now decided to join the netbook party by releasing its own netbook called the Archos 10.
The Archos 10 doesn’t provide anything new in terms of specification, with the usual range of bits inside;
- 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor
- 1GB RAM
- 160GB HDD
- 1.3 megapixel webcam
- 3 USB ports
- 10-inch screen
- 92% full size keyboard
- Media card reader
- Windows XP Home operating system
However (!) - pause - there is one significant difference, which can be explained by Archos’ portable media player heritage. The Archos 10 is being marketed as an entertainment package through a number of online deals.
When buying the Archos 10 you get 400 free music downloads through eMusic, a $50 voucher towards free movie downloads from the Archos Media Club and vTuner’s Web Radio and TV player application.
The Archos 10 should be available by the end of January at around $399 for the 3-cell battery model and $449 for the 6-cell battery model.
