ABI Research has painted a very positive outlook for netbooks during the next few years. The analyst is predicting that 35 million netbooks will be shipped worldwide this year.
The reason for the explosive growth in the netbook market is a combination of social and technological factors, allowing the market to flourish.
When you consider that netbooks are low-priced, light weight, ultra-portable and can carry out 95% or more of most people’s computing needs, these figures are not that surprising.
ABI has also gone a step further, predicting that global netbook sales would continue to increase rapidly over the next 4 years. It estimates that 139 million netbooks will have shipped worldwide by 2013.
