More exciting news has evolved on the netbook front, with yet another new operating system in development.
Jolicloud is a new Linux based operating system that is being designed especially for netbooks by Netvibes founder Tariq Krim.
Although Jolicloud is based around Linux, its appearance is somewhat different to the other Linux offerings currently available. The user interface (UI) features large, easy to view icons, similar to those used on the iPhone.
The large, clear and attractive looking icons are aimed to overcome the smaller than normal screens that netbooks have. This should make Jolicloud extremely easy to use, especially among those who are less computer literate.
It also rumoured that touchscreen support will be included in the final release, allowing users to use their fingers rather than a mouse and keyboard to interact with the operating system.
Jolicloud is expected to be released under private Beta soon, with a retail version to follow in a few months.
