After a rather vague announcement by Dell at this year’s CES show about its forthcoming Dell Mini 10 netbook, further details have emerged from what appears to be a leaked presentation slide.

You may be thinking, “big deal”, but this leaked presentation slide gives some interesting, albeit unconfirmed, information, that will appeal to those looking to buy a netbook over the next few months.

The most enlightening part of this leaked presentation slide is that the Dell Mini 10 will be aimed at two groups of user;

  • Youth social networking/entertainment
  • Vacation/coffee shop companion

Primary usage for these two groups of user is expected to be;

  • Mobile web and communication
  • Video entertainment
  • Social networking

The above information suggests that the Dell Mini 10 will need to have extra features to help it appeal to these groups of users.

Well, the Dell Mini 10 certainly does have a few features that will make it stand out from the crowd;

720p High Definition (HD) display

The base model of the Dell Mini 10 will have a standard 16:9 WSVGA (1024×576) display. However, a 720p HD display (1366×768) will be available as an option - making it ideal for watching movies at higher resolutions.

Integrated TV Tuner

An integrated  TV tuner will be available as an option, allowing you to watch TV on the move. This may, however, have an impact on battery life.

DVD Slice

The meaning of a DVD slice is open to debate, but it may mean that there will be a slot-loading DVD drive built into the netbook. This would be great for watching movies on the move, particularly when travelling on trains and planes.

Standard Features

Other features of the Dell Mini 10 are more akin to what you would normally expect to find in a netbook;

  • Bluetooth
  • Wi-Fi
  • Optional GPS
  • Intel Atom Processor (1.3Ghz/1.6Ghz)
  • 120GB/160GB hard disk drive
  • 1-2GB RAM
  • 1.3 megapixel webcam
  • 3-cell or 6-cell battery
  • Linux or Windows XP operating system

Another attractive characteristic of the Dell Mini 10, is that it has a super thin design, with a thickness of just 21mm.

The Dell Mini 10sounds very tantalizing, and if the leaked presentation slide does turn out to be true, then a lot of people will be rubbing their hands with glee!

More news on the Dell Mini 10 as we get it.
