Almost all netbooks come with a built-in webcam and microphone, which makes them ideal communication devices - particularly as they are highly portable and can be taken on the move.
There are numerous methods of communicating via a computer, with the most obvious examples being chat, voice or video.
Plenty programs out there offer these features, such as MSN, ICQ and AOL messenger. However, there is one offering that provides a viable alternative for a telephone line, as well as all of the standard features - Skype.

Microsoft has finally announced the various editions that will launch their new operating system, Windows 7.
Those in the netbook community have been particularly interested by this announcement, as it will give a good indication of what Microsoft expects to offer netbook users in place of Windows XP.

An alpha version of a new open-source based Linux operating system designed for netbooks has been released. Moblin, as it is known, has been created by Intel specifically for netbooks that run the company’s Atom processor.

Some very exciting news has surfaced, which may provide the next exciting development for netbooks.
At the present time, netbooks are not suited to graphically intensive tasks such as photo/video editing, and playing games or HD video. However, a new graphics platform proposed by Nvidia could soon change that.
